Last week I saw a dog with a wide leather collar that seemed to have some sort of prongs on the inside. sort of like a pinch collar for training. Has anyone seen one of these or know what I am talking about. Are they cruel or they for training or what exactly are they. Help please. Thanx
I used to see collars like that in hunting supply catalogs. I don't remember seeing them in awhile, tho.
Pinch collars are for training, whether they are just the metal kind or hidden behind a leather collar. I bought one at a dog show that's hidden behind a standard nylon collar.
Yes, prong collars are for training, but they need to be fitted and used properly. I don't suggest going out and buying one of these as there are many other options.
Check the OUR BEST ADVICE sticky in the Puppy/Training section. I'm fairly sure there are some tips on using these collars safely and effectively.
