Hello everyone! We got daisy about 3 Weeks ago and she is somewhere around 7 Weeks...(we know we got her early but she was filthy and not being taken care of.) My question is does she look full lab to you? The awful people we got her from said she was 6 Weeks old when we took her. I say theres no way. We took her to be dewormed and have her shots last week and the vet said she was 6 wks Max. Do yall agree? They also said her dad was a choc lab.. We saw the mom and she was definitely full lab. But never had a chance to see the dad. We werent even looking to buy a puppy but they werent being cared for very well. The mom had 14 pups 3 died and there was only 4 left when we saw them. I think the people were just trying to get money. Whether she is full lab or not, we will love her and take care of her. Just thought id see what others thought. Oh and she weighed 8.2 lbs a week ago today. Please no hateful comments about getting her too early. It was either we take her and care for her properly or someone else take her and probably not take care of her.
We were worried about her behavior since she was so young... BUT, my chihuahua has taken to her well and oddly enough he tries to keep her in line.. Lol weve started the no bite, and no jump already. She seems to do well with that. She also cries at the door to go poop. So hopefully staying on her the first couple months will help her to grow and learn the way she needs to. How old does she look to you?
She is so stinking cute!! If I were you I probably would have done the same thing. Best of luck to you and I hope she has a wonderful temperament and healthy. What are you feeding her?
I highly recommend reading up on socialisation given the situation she came from. You need to work extra hard to ensure she grows up dog savvy and social. Look for puppy classes or have her intact with friends dog's who are of excellent temperment and up to date on their shots. You need to be extra careful where ou bring her as she hasn't had all her shots but you do need to socialise. Puppy classes are a perfect, safe, setting for this.

She looks no more than 7 weeks! She is tiny! Either that or my pups were HUGE! Just for comparison purposes, my two were 10.5 and 11.5 lbs at 7 weeks old. We got them a wee bit early (long story, our fault for taking them that early. We now know better.). The small size could also be because she was weened too early from her mom. Poor thing. She will gain it back up I'm sure.
I'd talk to your vet about how many more shots she will need. Usually they get three sets but if you vaccinate at or before 6 weeks the first won't be as effective. You still must get three usually at 8, 12 and 16 weeks. Ours had one at 6 weeks by the breeder but our vet required us to get 3 due to the effectiveness of the first shot.
Weve already started that she has play dates with some of friends dogs who are 4 and 6 months. I also have been taking her to work with me so she isnt timid or agressive. She plays well with other animals.. Shes just super rough. But they let her know amd she calms down. I dont do dog parks.. Theyre usually fairly gross and I dont need or want her getting sick. Shes has 2 dogs at home to play with too. But thanks for your suggestion. I think its super important too!
Big pups! my parents also got a pup when we did. The dogs went to the vet on the same day and her brother only weighed 7lbs even. Plus shes grown soo much just in the last week. Had to loosen her collar twice!
What a little beauty! I think it is awesome that you got her out of such a horrible situation and seem to be doing the ight things with her. Good luck to you.
She's cute and looks at least part Lab, but as Nicole said, you won't ever know for sure.
Definitely look into puppy classes - you'll want to do that to start her off on the right foot with training and it will also provide additional socialization. Depending where you're located, we might be able to help you find a training location if needed.
I think she will be fine since your other dog took her under wing. It will be funny in a few months when she is big and your chihuahua is bossing her around.
Her pictures remind me very much of my Mitzi.
