    Defaultstrange barking in the car

We traveled many times by car with Cassie. I think she likes it because she is very anxious to get in the car and she jumps to get in the car on her own. I throw a couple of toys and a bone to play with.

Most of the times she's quiet and play with her toys or destroying my car. Ourmf

Lately she barks for the first 5 minutes of the ride. Today I unlocked the car, opened the back door and she jumped into the car on her own. I shut the door and move forward. The strange thing today was the continues barking. She barked for the whole ride. The barking was that thin, high frequency sound, like she was crying or be afraid. At some point she stopped barking and start whining (crying) quietly and then start to bark again. She was also biting the protective bars I have at the back seats and also jumped on then.. Like she was trying to escape.

I was talking to her to calm her down but with no success.

This is the first time this happens and I don't know why she behave like that.

    Any advices?

I would try crating her. sounds like it is either stress or exitement (both which can lead to barking). A crate will keep her from damaging the car (and possibly herself) and possibly make her more comfortable. If you are able to fit a crate that is!

Good and bad news on our way back home.

    1. Good news: She didn't even bark ones. She was so quiet chewing her bone or ..my car.

    2. When we got home I noticed that she broke the plugs and the wires of the thermal system of the rear window.

    3. I'm getting a crate of the car. She destroyed everything in the boot. I have a Honda HRV, shall I get the bigger crate I can find?

Our Sophie will whine and bark a high pitched bark in the car when she needs to go potty. Cassie might have been telling you she needed to go!

Mine pee like 9 times out of excitement between when I say let's go for a ride and when we actually get in the car 5 minutes later. If Cassie didn't get a last chance to pee before you loaded her up, it may have been that she really had to go and needed out.

She always gets a last chance before she gets in the car and before the crate.. Anyway.. it must have been something temporary..

I'm getting the car crate definitely!

I would get the crate so she doesn't wreck you car.

Gemma is a car barker. She does it with excitment. I know it is hard not to say stop or don't, but this reinforces it. Hopefully the crate should work.
