    DefaultTICKS!

Really I am shocked at how uneducated people are about them. I have been hearing horror stories since March regarding ticks on dogs and humans.
Yesterday a woman, (Wife of a Vet from MSU) had to come in and buy flea and tick treatment because she just "had no idea". What are there no fleas or ticks in Lansing?
She went for a hike in the woods with her friend and came out, got in car, looked around and between the three of them had SEVEN ticks on them!!

So please protect yourself AND your pets

We have several people up here living with lyme disease and it is not pretty.

We don't treat for ticks. The last time I did, Rhys had a seizure. We do not have ticks around here in Windsor, or even Blenheim where the dogs run in the woods.

I'm afraid now because we're going to TN in two weeks and I have to Frontline Nola. Is that what everyone is using now? If not, what do we use?

I use Advantix. Have for several years now. Frontline just does not seem to work like it use to. Kramer is the only dog I don't use it on because of his epilepsy.

    Advantix here too.
Frontline was not working AT ALL.
I was constantly finding ticks on Java and she ended up testing positive for Lyme at 5 months old, despite being on Frontline.
Advantix has been working great-no ticks so far since using it(almost 3 years).

I use Advantix, when I use it. I haven't put anything on mine since last summer, I just don't like to. That being said though, we are going to camp over the weekend where the ticks are really bad, so I will be treating them tonight. Hopefully, that will be the only time for the summer.

We don't have a lot of them at our house, the turkeys eat them!

Thanks, Kim for posting this. Not to get off topic, but I use Revolution for Diesel - heartworm & flea & it says it works for "American dog tick", but no other kinds of ticks. I googled Advantix & it's for fleas & ticks - what do you guys use for heartworm? Are you giving a separate product or not using one? He's due this week for his Revolution, just not sure if I should switch up & use something else, I don't think we have a high tick population where we are. I think I would worry more about heartworm as it can be transmitted through mosquitos. I just don't want to over do it on him. TIA

I started using Iverhart Max for them this year for heartworm and general monthly wormer. In the past I have done other methods by giving each product separately but this year I went this route. I got a good deal on it, so I figured what the heck.

I use Advantix for the ticks, we have a lot around here. I use Sentinel for the wormer and fleas.
