    Defaulttrimming hair around private parts?

Do I need to regularly trim any hair around my female lab's 'private' parts? (for hygiene purposes)

    Thanks

Some dogs have a long enough top coat to make trimming that area a good idea.

To the OP- it won't hurt if you want to do it, but, unless there is a health reason, you don't HAVE to. I used to trim the ends of the hair on Mick's "privates", and around his butt. He was a Lab/English Setter mix, and his top coat was a little longer than a Lab's.

If your females has UTI issues, then I would say it's a good idea to keep the area trimmed.

I would leave it alone. The hair protects them.

I never have. I would leave it alone unless you were having problems like UTIs.

Ah, thanks, Micksmom. I've never experienced those problems so it never occurred to me!

I´ve been thinking about trimming inner thighs of Vermon (rough collie). He´s always peeing his inner thighs and its stinky... I hope he learns how to correctly lift his leg soon and stops soiling himself.

On a Lab I don´t think its necessary.
