    DefaultTic repellent for puppies?

I pulled a HUGE tic off of one of my pups today. Got the head and all so no worries there. We live in a pretty heavily infested area. I "thought" I had been checking the pups good but I guess not. They are only going out in the yard still but that's enough for the tics to find them.

Is 10 weeks too young for flea and tic preventative? Should I be concerned that the pup was bitten? I do have a call into my vet...she was closed by the time I found the tic and removed it. Just wanted to get some input here.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

Go to the websites for the products. I looked and I found Advantix II can be used as early as 7 weeks. I think I would check with my vet first tho. Also, we have been hearing that Fronline is causing seizures, so I'd stay away from that one.

I don't use anything on my dogs. If I were you, I'd treat the yard before applying pesticide to my dogs bodies.

I've used advantix II on both my male labs and my youngest is now 15 weeks. I had treated him at around 10 weeks withit but prior to that I used Adams flea and tick spray from Petco and it helped. Talk to your vet for your local area and talk with other dog owners about what works too.

    Thanks, All.

I had my vet here today for shots. (She is a mobile vet.) She agreed with Sharon. No topical stuff for a while yet and to spray the yard. However, I neglected to ask what to spray with. Anyone have suggestions? Anything that might be a kinder spray (e.g., no chemicals?!) Not sure if there is such a thing.
