You should be checking with your vet about solutions to the problem before self-medicating your dog for something that seems to be a long term issue. If it were a one time thing like he got stung by something & his face blew up in a reaction, that's one thing, but you have another post about a month ago about his dry skin.... benadryl or any other kind of med on a regular basis should be dispensed under the advisement of a professional. Better safe than sorry!!

Autumn's on a daily regiment of Benadryl.

When we first started the vet said 1 mg per pound. Each OTC pill is 25 mg.

At this point Autumn is 67.6 lbs, and after her visit to the vet today he okayed her taking 75 mg, twice a day. She also takes 1 claritin per day if allergies are especially terrible.

She gets her allergy flare ups in the spring, that's when she gets the 75 mg twice a day and claritin. Other seasons she goes down to one or two a day, or some days none.

25 mg per 25 lbs. So he would need four 25 mg. tablets. But I have to agree with Roxy. You really need to rule out the culprit before you dose your dog. Could be a lot of things, including a staph infection, which Rider just went through.
