DefaultYellow Lab puppy attends public school

    In this morning's paper:

There is a reason why dogs are man's best friend. A
yellow Labrador gets to prove it in the Silver Lake schools
    every day.

York, an 8-month-old puppy, works as a therapy dog under the
supervision of Deb Howser, director of special services for Unified
School District 372. She said in the short month York has been in
the schools, he has had a significant effect on many of the
    district's students.

"Oh, my gosh, they love him," Howser said. "They get excited when
they see him. The high school kids have really taken to him, especially
    the big football guys."

Howser has in the past had a therapy dog, Molly, a corgi, when she
worked in the Valley Falls and Shawnee Heights school districts.....

Before we moved back here I saw a news story about kids being more comfortable reading to dogs then to adults. In this instance it wasn't a lab but it was pretty amazing to see these kids ease up around the dog and even the ones who had such difficulty reading in front of others were able to do with the dog by their side! Very touching.
Thanks for sharing the story, I love the pic of York laying by the little boy reading~

What a nice article. There is a school locally that has an in-house yellow lab. The kids love him!
