Man, this day just sucks. It's bad enough coming here and finding out about Cappy.
But, today I had to take my big black guy Deacon to the vet and let him go. You see, a couple months ago my vet discovered a tumor in the back of his mouth, at the top of his throat. Because of it's location, and Deacon's age, there wasn't really anything to be done. So, he got soft foods and lots of loving for the time we had left. Then, it finally got to the point where he had trouble eating, and it was affecting his breathing. Today I made the hardest decision I've ever had, and now he's gone. I'd like to think that he's in heaven now, with my Mom and Dad. He's young again, he can see good, and his joints don't hurt. He can run and play to his heart's content, while he waits for me.
He'll always be my first. My first Lab, my first hunting dog, the first dog I ever trained for hunting. My bestest boy. So long, my friend. I'll join you someday, and we can walk the fields and hunt together again. Run free...
My Lab is smarter than your honor student.
Deacon 12/1/1999-4/2/2012 RIP, bestest boy.
Diesel 3/29/2010 My little hard charger.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
I like to think that they get reunited with their litter mates in heaven while waiting for us, and get to play like when they were puppies. I call Bauer "my bestest boy," that part really choked me up.
RIP Deacon . . . Run free . . . go find Cappy and have some fun looking for ducks!!

Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for much, but bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.
I am sorry for your loss of Deacon. It is never easy making that hard decision, but we do it because we love them. He knew he was loved. He will always be in your heart. Godspeed, Deacon.
Run Free Deacon! I'm so sorry for your loss.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't letting go - but learning to start over.
