    DefaultK9 Advantix II

I am thinking of this for the boys instead of Frontline. Any thoughts?

I use Avantix for my kitties but not on a regular basis. I use Vectra 3D on my dogs, also not on a regular basis. Unfortunately it has been much more frequent this past year because of the non-existent winter. I don't think the fleas ever died off and the ticks are out of control. I normally only use these products on an as needed basis. I previously used Frontline but it seemed to stop working last year.

I used it last year and had real good results. With Frontline they were still coming in with ticks ... once I switched, no more ticks. We did not have problems with fleas, so I am of no help there.

We don't have problems with fleas or ticks, and I would like to keep it that way. Since we didn't have a cold enough winter to kill off the bugs, I am afraid everything is going to be out of control this summer. The gnats are already swarming (and hungry!) and I know the mosquitoes will be horrible. This stuff is supposed to kill mosquitoes and repel biting flies. With the horse pastures right across the road, we get those, too.

Jackie - I just made the switch to Advantix... Frontline+ wasn't cutting it for a couple of seasons.
Haven't applied the Advantix yet but used the last of my F/L+ in February because of the unusually warm weather.

    We'll see!

Oh... Drs. F&S still best price unless you want to try the Oz on-line shop.

When the girls were on Frontline they constantly came in with ticks.
Java was diagnosed with Lyme....so we switched to Advantix. Since switching we have not found a single tick on either girl. Which is something considering we live in a rural, wooded tic heavy area and my girls are constantly running the woods.

I was just looking at Drs. F&S catalog. Nance, did you know that you must keep a cat away from dogs treated with K9 Advantix II for 24 hours? It's dangerous for cats.

I'm curious to know how well Advantix works against mosquitoes. We only use flea/tick meds when we are going somewhere flea/tick heavy. We have never had a problem here. Last year I did use Vectra 3D (i think that was it) once because the mosquitoes were so bad, but I don't think It made a difference where mosquitoes were concerned.
