    Defaultnon allergic collar

    Hi again,

I want to know if there are any non allergic collars. I bought a new collar (Authentic rogz gear) but when she wears it she scratches. The vet told me that it's the collar. It's not a leather one. Maybe polyester or something.

Are the leather ones better? Are there any non allergic collars?

    Thanx again.

A quick search brought up this page. Never tried it.
Hypoallergenic Dog Collars - Dog Care - Compare Prices, Reviews and Buy at Nextag - Price - Review

Note: Searched for hypoallergenic collars as searching for hypoallergenic dog collars brought up some links to hypoallergenic dogs instead of collars.

Thank you for the fast response!

I have sent them an email to see if they ship to Cyprus.

Sounds expensive (to ship to Cyprus). Maybe your local pet store might already have hemp collars? Hemp is cloth made from fibre from the marijuana plant, so maybe not. Hemp has no THC. THC is the active ingredient in marijuana.

It looks like the hypoallergenic collars were all made of hemp.

Rolled leather? That's what my mob wear, when they are wearing.

It's totaly normal for puppies to scratch at their necks when they first start wearing a collar. Could that be what the vet meant?

It could be that she is scratching at it because it feels weird on her neck. When we first got Sophie and put a collar on her she scratched at it like crazy! So we bought a little narrow one and put it on loosely. She seemed ok with the little one, so after awhile we went to the next width, which was wider but not as wide as the adult collar. Then after awhile we went to the adult collar. She wasn't allergic, she just didn't like the feel of it on her neck.

Ernie scratches when he has a collar on. Embarrassing as people think he has fleas so I always say it is the collar as he doesn't wear one in the house.

I have cotton fabric ones for Tessa as she can't have anything irritating the bald patch on her neck.

The vet told me not to put her the collar for a few days to see if she scratches or not. We'll visit the vet tonight for something else and I'll get more info about the collar.

I will try to find a cotton fabric collar.. I tried to purchase the Hemp Standard Collars and choose Cyprus but the Shipping and handling to Cyprus was $0.00 (weird)

I have sent them an email. Other wise I will get another collar from the UK.

    Updated: I found some here.
