We give Sophie fish oil caplets twice a day. I just buy the human cod liver oil ones... Also daily brushing stimulates the oil in the skin. We also went grain free and that helped.

Sophie attacks the brush and thinks we are playing. We brush her very quickly since she is biting the brush and rolling all over the place! Some people give sardines to their dogs once a week too. The fish oil has really helped Sophie. Also, the vet put her on Comfortis for fleas. He said that the topical treatments like Advantix are distributed through the oils in the skin, and that with a dog with dry skin, it may not distribute properly.

Make sure you go to GNC or a similar vitamin store and buy a good quality supplement. Crill or salmon oil will work very well also.

We buy Twinlab Norwegian Cod Liver oil. You want the ones that have vitamins A and D. It should also say EPA and DHA.

I would go to a vitamin store but that is me. Neither of my 2 have dry skin. My lab that died in June would get it sometimes in the winter but the fish oil would work quickly!
