DefaultSalmon vs Chicken or Lamb... Proplan question

I´ve been battling with Vermont and his stomach problems pretty much since I got him. On and off he can be fine for a week then get loose stools for some days, then fine again.

He´s been on medications, even got the stools analyzed twice. First time he had shigella, second time it was negative.

He´s been on Proplan puppy large breed. Soo the vet told me to consider the Lamb and Rice formula, which I couldn´t find anywhere around here. But I did found the Salmon and Rice puppy formula (it doesn´t specify its for large breed, just for puppies).

I bought a small bag to try it out, so I´ve been mixing it with the regular Proplan, and turns out my fuzzy eater is loving the Salmon Formula (right now its a mix of half chicken formula half salmon formula)

I just wanted to ask if I can keep him on a Salmon formula permanently, if its good long term. I´m suspecting the chicken/corn formula is not suiting him well.

Does anybody feed their dogs this Salmon formula as a regular food?

You can keep him on Salmon permanently. I have a lot of customers who use it as a regular food for their dogs. Sensitive Skin & Stomach Formula - Products - Purina® Pro Plan® I don't believe there is a puppy formula.

I used to feed Diesel the Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach formula (salmon/rice) once I discovered he was allergic to chicken. It worked better than what he was on prior to that, but soon after we still had some problems with loose stools, dull coat, ear infections, etc. So I ended up going grain free. A lot of people here like the Pro Plan whether they get kick backs or genuinely think it's a good product. Wait & see how Vermont does on it & judge for yourself. What works for some dogs, simply doesn't work for others.

We feed TOTW salmon formula, and Sophie has done really well on it. So, I'd say stick with the salmon.

Gracie has had trouble with her ears so vet suggested a change to ProPlan sensitive skin and stomach. She has only been on it for a couple of weeks. She loves it and the difference in her coat is amazing.

Snicks has been on Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach for most of her life. She has always done very well on it.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I´ll buy a large bag and try it out, right now I´m in the "mix process" with the chicken formula and the salmon formula. He really likes the Salmon. If he´s fine on the whole bag, I´ll keep him on Salmon only long term.

Funny that you mention... I checked your link and there isn´t a formula por puppies in the US, but we do have it here in Mexico... and on the other side we don´t have the lamb formula here and its available in the US... that is just strange.
