Awesome! We are members of DockDogs - but I haven't heard of Splash Dogs. I'll have to look that up. Do they measure from the tip of the nose or the tail set?

    They measure the tail set.

Question please. When you and Snick started competing, did Snick get too excited? How did you calm him enough to listen? As you can tell, we need to work on our first throw. It was the same way in practice. I couldn't get him to sit/stay on the first throw, but then he does fine on the second.

He's ALWAYS like that, silly guy. Not enough hours in a day or enough muscles in mama's arm for him. LOL!

Oh my - Snicks is still out of control excited! I swear, when we go up to the dock I look like a complete idiot. She's like a fish on the end of the line barking, jumping, foam flying out of her mouth...no lie!!! But when actually get up on the dock, she will hold a perfect sit/stay until I throw the ball. Always has. Then she's super calm when we leave the dock...until we get in line again!

I started this in the yard though - before I even knew we would be in DockDogs. I would put her in a sit/stay next to me and then throw her tennis ball. She couldn't get it until I gave her the "ok" command. So she kind of knew that before we ever went to the dock.

My new dog, Carlton, on the other hand is going to be more challenging I think. I haven't started with him yet, but I plan on starting him only 20 feet back on the dock. I've seen a lot of people do that at first. I think they feel your "presence" a little bit more!

^^ I did this as well for months with a frisbee before we ever got on a dock. Now when we get on the dock, he automatically drops to the floor. Also, if he ever breaks a stay, I always return him to the back of the dock and start again. I won't throw the bumper if he breaks the stay.

Yep - me too. I'm sure Charlie will get it in no time! He certainly has the love of it already!!!
