SmileQuestion about puppies and due date!

We are anxiously waiting for our new puppy. Our breeder told us that the delivery date was Thursday the 23rd yet we haven't heard anything ... What's the norm? I'm just getting a wee bit to excited.

    Drop her/him an email.

Usually the date is pretty accurate, within 1-2 days. But they are probably busy taking care of your new puppy!

I will add, just because it depends on the breeder:

If you did all of your research, had the puppies' parents checked for hips, elbows, eyes and heart then you should be reassured that they are great breeders and will be in touch soon.

I know with my litter, I could hardly wait to share the news with someone as excited as I was: MY PUPPY BUYERS! Some even got a phone call during a lull in the whelping!

BUT, if its a less than scrupulous breeder, and you've given them money already, you might not be so important!

    There, bases covered.

I'd contact them. Sometimes breeders zone out, especially if mom had a rough time or they were up for 3 days awaiting the blessed event.

Thank you! We've emailed them so we'll wait until tomorrow and I'll call them. We've been waiting and wondering since December ... we have not put any money down yet so maybe they are just plain ol busy ... so they don't owe us anything it's just that we really loved them ... not to sure if i'm just getting to antsy ...

This - clearances are very important and not part of a regular "vet check" they are separate tests.

It's possible there were problems with the whelping, too, and they may be busy taking care of the mom and/or pups. Good luck, hope the puppies were all healthy and the mom is, too!

Thank you all for your input!!! The puppies are here ... they were born the night of the 2/22 and well into the morning of the 23rd... all yellow and beautiful healthy puppies !!! 4 male and 3 female, when the puppies are old enough for a visit, we'll be there with bells on!!! Our new little one will be a yellow female and we'll call her Madison! Of course it might change once we see her

Our beloved Chocolate Lab Bailey passed away the end of July. Our lives just haven't been the same and with the welcoming of a new little one ... we'll be smiling once again.
