DefaultEvery night, Mr. Parker *has* to say nighty-night to his Daddy......

One of these nights, this little routine is going to wake up one of the kids and get Mr. Parker in trouble. But for now ///melt/// I find this the cutest thing ever.

About a week ago, we got rid of Parker's crate in our bedroom. Frankly, he had outgrown it, and he was starting to look uncomfortable. So I bought him a bed and tucked it in the corner where the crate used to be.

And that first night, I crossed my fingers that he would *get* the concept of where he was supposed to sleep. I showed him the bed, put him in a down, and dove under my own covers. He wandered a little bit, niffing here and there, but when I told him to settle, he got the idea and went to bed.

Well over the following 10 days or so, this little routine developed. I'll indicate his bed and tell him: "G'night, bud. Go lie down." And then a head-scrungle and that's it.

And I'll nestle myself in my own bed, lying usually on my back. And Parker will come RIGHT UP TO THE BEDSIDE, so that we are basically nose-to-nose.

And he'll bark. Just once. "BARK!"

And then I'll get a small lick. Usually on the nose.

And I'll tell him goodnight again and turn out the light.

And then: Flumpgh. Nestle-nestle-nestle. Lab-sigh. Nestle. Zzzzzzzz...

    =)

Awww. Good boy, Parker. Theo is almost nine and he's still crated at night. He gets the idea of going to his own bed, but we would wake up at about 4 a.m. every morning with a dog in the bed.

Bailey does something very similar. We turn out the light, he wanders round to Dads side, puts his head on the mattress and eyeballs Dad. Then he mooches back to my side and I get the mattress treatment too but with the added extra of a big night night dog snog-love him so much

I especially like that ^^. Nothing like settling in to bed & hearing that distinctly "lab-sigh" to send you right off to dreamland with them.

    My pretty girl, Lexi!
