    DefaultI think Vermont is cryptorchid...

I apologize in advance if Iīm too graphic...

Iīm not sure but I think Vermont is cryptorchid. When I check down there, he has long hair in the area so its really difficult to see (and I honestly donīt want to be "digging" in there). From what I can see I can notice just barely the shape of his testicles but seem small.

I donīt remember how Homerīs looked at that age. They just grew (quite a bit LOL) at some point.

Tomorrow the vet will check Vermont. Heīs 5.5 months old, so Iīm pretty sure they should be in their place at this point, but I just donīt know if they grow to their normal size when he hits puberty, or if his cryptorchid.

Iīm concerned honestly... I had hopes of showing him, but more than that Iīm worried because thereīs a higher risk of cancer, and now I would have a huge dilema, either neuter him righ away (which I TOTALLY oppose neutering dogs before they finish up growing) to prevent cancer risk, or wait and let him finish growing up and proceed to neuter at age 2 (like I did with Homer).

What would you do? I really donīt want to neuter him before he finishes growing up, but I donīt want to risk him getting cancer...

Iīm totally boomed... hope the vet gives me good news and the boy is just "smaller" than... and they will grow later.

I think you are really jumping the gun. If they are both descended but small that's not a problem. Wait on what the vet says. And - I recall from other threads on this topic that they can descend late too.

If you're truly interested in showing, you're going to have to get over your drama...feel if the testicles are there or not, simple as that. If they're not, he's not going to get cancer tomorrow, wait until he's full grown and get him neutered.

    Dylan's testes weren't obvious at 5 months either. Doesn't mean a thing.

I'd not worry about it until you see the vet. Talk to your breeder too, I'm sure he/she felt around to make sure he had two before selling him as a show prospect.

The vet can do an ultrasound to see where the other testicle is. And I have heard of them dropping, even later on. Not to worry until you see the vet.

    Thanks all.

Vet found them and they are descended, heīs just... well... not too big... but they will grow!

They are just hard to spot with all the fur in the area, but he told me they are there.

So plans for his 6 month evaluation with the breeder continue... letīs see what he says next month maybe he can attend her first show at the end of march.
