Sedona, who just turned 4, and Keegan, who just turned 2, have always slept in their crates at night. Sedona sleeps in her crate, open, during the day during my rest time and Keegan sleeps on the bed. They both sleep on the bed during nap time during the weekend. QUESTION: My DH was thinking about switching them to beds instead of the crates at night. We would move their crates out of our bedroom and use them when we are out of the house only or if I need to keep them contained for some reason. I think Sedona would do fine, but Keegan will probably try to jump on the bed. I unfortunately have to get up most nights due to severe pain and go in my office for a while and wonder if that will cause them to want to follow me or jump up on the bed.
Anyway, for any of you that have switched from crate to beds I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
Isn't it great to have a sister
We've had great luck by putting the new bed in the crate for awhile before removing the crate.
I have been wanting to try this with my guys but I value space on the bed too much. Our dogs' crates are in our rooms as well and take up lots of room. My fiance works night shifts so during the day when he is sleeping the dogs are in their crates. I do allow mine to sleep on the bed on weekends. When ours are on the bed and we get up they just follow us where ever we go.
