Hi All! Thanks to Jeanne for letting me know someone was asking about us! We are doing well and had an exciting second half to last year. The last time we checked in Guthrie and I were in the midst of field training having just passed some NAHRA tests.
Since then we attended the Labrador nationals in October. We got to meet Linda and Bo and saw tons of gorgeous and talented labs. Plus we got two legs(second and third place) toward our novice Rally title(something we had not even practiced in two years) and one leg toward our Junior Hunter title. Guthrie also learned the thrill of jumping from hotel bed to hotel bed with his cousin and friend Apple.
And with the encouragement of my SO I surprised everyone and got my hunting license. This Fall/Winter Guthrie has been actually living the labrador dream.... out on several guided(an awesome experience) and some nonguided duck hunts. Even when we see no ducks I still have the most amazing time being outside enjoying life with my bestest boy.
Here are a few pics from his first guided hunt. Guthrie had never been in a boat before....had never heard shots up close(we were hunting from a duck boat) and had never worn a vest. He was very wary at first(of the boat, of the shots, of the vest) but after his first retrieve it all "clicked". So all those folks that say show labs can't hunt!!! Guthrie is proof that they are wrong! And to think he didn't even start doing this until he was almost 4!
Retrieving with 30 degree temps is cold! The men teased me about babying my baby!
View from inside the boat.
My handsome, happy and very proud boy! Brant decoys on the water and real Brant in front!
Great pics! Love the one in the hat!!! He could be a model!!!
