    DefaultCappy's Last Four Hunts

No ... he hasn't been hunting for two years now. But as some folks know, I "plant" a duck for Cappy & Remi as we're coming home, somewhere along our 700' driveway, on the way in from highway. They know the most likely place to go "hunt" to get their duck for the day.

Kinda bittersweet for me but they really seem to look forward to it.

Wonderful pictures, Jim. I know it is bittersweet, but oh how Cappy must love "fetching" his duck.

Jim, you've got to stop making thread titles like that! Cappy looks very proud of himself. Give that sweet old guy a hug & kiss for me. I think I missed something- is Remi retired now, too?

Sadly, yes. Remi is fully retired at age 7. Cappy turns 13 next week and is holding his own. The first pic in the original post was this morning. You can see how atrophied the rear leg muscles have become. He loses his balance easily so I discourage any running, but he still want to jog a little and that's fine. He eats well and other bodily functions are still good. It's just so hard for me to watch him be on the downhill slide ... but I do accept that as part of life. *sigh*

I'm honored, Linda ... much Mahalo.

I just went back to "archives" and dug out this image from November of 1999, Cappy's 1st duck season. He was 11 months old at the time. Look at the muscle development in those rear legs already!

and look how that pup could jump!

I need Iz singing in the background ... "Somewhere over da Rainbow" ....

He was a true hunting dawg, and an awesome one at that. He had a wonderful "career."
