    Defaultmy puppy doesn't listen!

So, our General is a typical lab puppy....but, he will NOT listen to me when I take him outside. He listens to my husband, but when I try to tell him to drop something he picked up or tell him to come in, I swear he would laugh at me if he could! He will stop, look at me, then take off running! I've tried making my voice deeper and louder, and it just doesn't work....HELP!

Maybe you haven't spent as much time training as your husband has? My 5 month old puppy listens much better to me than to Jon but I am the one who works with him for at least an hour per day. You could try a obedience class with the puppy which could help tremendously in bonding the 2 of you. It is something that takes consistency, reward and praise. I have no doubt he will learn and I do know how frustrating it can be. Good luck!

My dogs listen to me more then they listen to my sisters brothers or parents since I am the one who trains, feeds, and exercises them. SO they have a closer bond with me. If I was you I would enroll in an Obedience class or work with General more. I made my mom walk and train the dogs when she was not working. It helped a little but it's usually 50/50. Now my mom works 50-60 hr weeks and is no home enough to do training and the some of the walking.

I've thought about the classes, probably a good idea. But its odd because I usually am the one taking him on walks, and he cuddles up with me all the time...maybe Jim is just more firm with him that I am! and yes, he is a silver lab!

I enjoyed the classes I took with Tal and Barney. Good luck and I am sure with more time training and lots of patience, she'll come around!
