I have a chocolate lab, she is 3 and a half months old, we have her from 8 weeks. Over the past 3 weeks she has been changing colour but only around her tail (only part of it) and top of her back? The rest of her is still shiney brown. Can upload photos if need be.
Any ideas what it may be?
Jack's color changes with the season's ,his winter coat is dark chocolate and his summer coat is lighter in shade.
Sounds like she is blowing her puppy coat.
I agree with Javasmom, sounds like she is blowing her puppy coat out. Try brushing her & I bet you'll find that resolves the issue.
Also, in the summer, if she likes to lay in the sun (like my Lexi does), you might find her coat will lighten up. Chocolate labs coats will lighten in the sun. My Lexi loves to lay outside all summer long & by the end, she is more a caramel color than chocolate.
My pretty girl, Lexi!
That is so cool! I have never heard of a lab changing colors!
I rescued Tessa about 5 months ago and her coat is constantly changing colour. Each photo I take of her the colour is different.
I've seen it, too. My best friend Nikki's chocolate Lab, Cuda...his changes with the seasons.
