DefaultSophie has new brothers and sisters!

Our breeder just sent me a picture of Sophie's 1/2 brothers and sisters. They were born Nov 9. They are so sweet! This litter has a different sire this time. It is Sophie's mom, Cheyenne's last litter. If anyone is looking in Oregon, let me know. There are 2 yellows and the rest chocolates.

Do most breeders allow their females to have 2 litters in the same year? Please don't be mad at me but that sounded like a little too much to me. I would think they would need at least one heat, if not more, between litters in order to fully recover. JMHO, I am by no means a breeder.

I dunno....I just know she has been breeding for years. She only lets the females have 3 litters. Maybe she had a heat in between....not sure. Cheyenne is her heart dog, so I am sure she did what was best for her.

I did not, in any way, mean to suggest that she would not have done what was best for Sophies mom . I just remembered when I was looking I was told by 2 seperate breeders that their females were only bred every 18 - 24 mos, I guess they are all different.
So, this is her last litter? Any temptation to bring home a brother or sister for Sophie, lol??!! Awww, come on mom...

Most people who breed their dogs don't do it for the right reasons. There are valid reasons you'd breed a bitch back to back (two seasons in a row) and there are valid reasons that you'd breed with the possibility of both yellows and chocolates in the same litter. You'd have to ask that specific breeder to see if their answers are up to par.

Chester's breeder does back to back breeding, too. It worried me so I did research on it before we went with her and found out that it is considered easier on the female (?) But she says she only allows 2-3 litters total per female.

I was surprised about the chocolate and yellow in the same litter. I thought you produced Dudley's when you did that gene combo.
