DefaultHow do I find Rescues in my area?

There is a BEAUTIFUL Australian Shepherd boy who isn't very old...who has been posted on craigslist five times in the last two months or so. He is deaf...his owner didn't realize he was deaf when he bought him to be a "shop dog"...and since he has figured this out has now decided he doesn't want the dog. The dog has been bounced from a few houses that thought they could handle him then decided they couldn't. If I didn't live right near a busy street and had a yard that was fully fenced instead of partially fenced, I would take him in...but where we live right now I don't think this would be a good idea. There is something about this baby that really tugs at my heart strings and he deserves so much better than what he was given. I have tried searching but haven't been able to find any Aussie rescues in my area? Does anyone know of any in PA or of how to find some? Thanks in advance!

To find a rescue? I didn't even know you could do that honestly, I thought when you searched on that site it just brought up other dogs.

Here is a link to their national site. They are based in New Castle PA. They may be able to help out with this dog. Is this one a Merle? Merle to Merle breedings often produce deaf dogs.

Thank you! And yes he is. I have read that improper testing and breeding two merles can lead to deaf dogs...so obviously the breeder probably wasn't a very good one, but it's still a shame that he is being bounced around. I'm sure with proper training he could be a fantastic dog regardless of the fact that he's deaf. Hopefully someone can help.

I contacted the rescue that you listed BigBrownDog and haven't heard back from them yet...but I also contacted another aussie rescue that I found and they responded telling me they don't do special needs cases. I really hope I can find someone to take this pup on...he just looks so depressed in his pictures (beautiful, but depressed) and it's really tugging at my heart strings. :/

keep in mind rescuse are pretty much volunteer run by people with full times jobs, families and other dogs so it can take awhile to get back to you.
