Hi! My baby girl Hailey (5 years old) has cold tail. She had it last year, and I noticed on Sunday morning that her tail was very limp and just hanging down. She is a very active and happy dog, and I think all her tail wagging may be what caused it. I gave her a baby aspirin with her food, but other than that I guess time and rest will help her to heal. I feel bad when I see her trying to sit down, then she changes her mind because her tail is sore and she can't sit. If you have any advice, it would be appreciated! Thank you!
I found this article, I hope it helps. Update on Cold/LimberTail July 2004

Just leave it alone and it should be fine in a few days. In the meantime, just give some aspirin.

My girls have had cold tail several times. With rest, it was gone in a few days.
Same advice, not too much you can do. I'd give an adult aspirin and it may help. My old girl Belle got cold tail a few times just from excessive running and pure joy butt tucks. It may be coincidence, but once I started her on a glucosimine regimen, she never got it again.

Thank you, everyone, for your advice! She is doing much better today, and I'm sure she will be 100% very soon. I did give her glucosamine with the aspirin that I give to Raven for his arthritis. I don't know if that helped or not, but I figured it wouldn't hurt her. Thanks again!
