When we adopted Gary we were told he is full lab from the rescue. His coat is not changing at all and I sometimes look at him and wonder if he is a mix. Here are some pictures. What do you think? Thank you.

He's a handsome fellow! Looks labby to me... He has those beautiful golden eyes like our Sophie has. How old is he?

could be either pure bred (though not bred to standard) or could be a mix, unless he came with papers (into the rescue) no one can really "guarantee" anything. When you rescue, you get what you get - a great pet to love

What kind of change to his coat did you expect?

He looks like a pet bred Lab to me.

I was wondering the same thing.

Me, too. Like others have said, he could be a mix, but he could very easily pass as purebred, too. Have fun with your new guy!

Thank you! We love him and he is a great pet. We got him the end of July from a rescue and they told us both parents were lab but no papers. Also that is not a big deal to me more curious than anything. He has the webbed feet, loves to swim, has the otter tail which is always going. He also seems to need to be around us or know where we are. We love him and he is definately a big part of our family. He is 8 months old. I thought with the colder weather they get a thicker coat and have a shedding period. Years ago I had a golden retriever and we had weeks of shedding and bags full of hair. I thought I read that labs also have the shedding and I haven't seen any signs if it. We do brush a lot. I was expecting lots of hair. I washed his bedding yesterday no hair on it at all.

If you have a Lab that doesn't shed then you are very lucky.
