UnhappyBeing a bit bittersweet, if you'll allow.

I remember 10 years ago when Rhys was a puppy. He was a horrible, horrible, terrible, no good puppy.

Yesterday I remembered his first autumn, and trying to rake with him around. Ugh, what a nightmare. I remember him grabbing at the rake and I poked him in the eye...and he cried. And from then on, I got angry with him when I raked and he wouldn't leave me alone...I was stuck between not wanting to hurt him and wanting to just be done with raking.

Well I hadn't thought about that at all, fiesty little baby Rhys and the rake for so long...until last night.

I guess I hadn't had an autumn puppy since him.

Because Nola was chasing the rake. Disrupting my piles of leaves. I poked her in the eye.

I couldn't help but let her play though, and I wish I had my evil, fiesty baby Rhys back. Man was he a terrible puppy.

Moral of this post: Let your puppies be puppies. They won't be puppies for long. And they DO grow out of it.

    Oh how sweet.
Especially the part about poking Rhys in the eye....lol

It makes me think back to when Moka was a puppy...she was horrible too. I didn't like her. I almost made her live in the barn.
I can think back fondly now and realize....that I don't miss Moka puppy AT ALL. lol
I'm so glad I let her live long enough to grow up...I like her much better as a 2 year old than I did as an 8 week old.

I can just picture devilish little Nola attacking those leaves!!

I agree. I have been thinking that with Erns. He didn't stop with the antics, now is happy to sleep. Where did my bad boy go.Makes me sad to think they aren't around here for long enough.

Oh shoot...we have to think of the good times with them or we will get too sad and not enjoy every day with them.

    Awww...

Baloo was a pretty terrible puppy too. LOL, he still pretty much is much of the time, but I think I have learned to see it as one of his more endearing qualities and now I will miss his terrible puppiness like hell if/when it goes.

    Cute pic of baby Rhys-y!!
