DefaultFinally found a slow down food bowl that works.

Kate has always inhaled her food. I bought several of the plastic ones but eventually she chewed the center cones, even though I would pick it up as soon as she is finished. I just got this stainless steel bowl with a large center cone (not sure that is the right word), anyway, she finally is eating slower. I like the fact it is stainless steel. It was more money but well worth it.

Glad it's working for you. Zoe would still inhale w/a bowl like that.
    We have this:
    (brake fast bowl)
it slowed her down a lot, initially, until she figured out how to move the food with her tongue to the outside area w/more space. Still, it's better than her other bowl

That one is nice too, Linda. I had that. Can you believe with eating she chewed those center things? Kate may figure out this new bowl too, but for now, it's good. I had the blue plastic one. If I could have found a stainless steel one, she could not have chewed it.

Happy it works for you! Diesel was horrible with the slow down bowls.... he would SLAM his snout into them... yelp, gulp, yelp, gulp.... and despite it claiming a "no tipping" feature, he would always be able to tip them over.

He's a big time hoover, I just put a large size rubber ball in his dish (he has yet to figure out all he has to do is lift it out of the dish *knocks on wood*) & that seems to slow him right down. I also put a bit of water in his kibble & find he does actually chew his food more now, as well as his bowl is elevated which probably helps too.

Roxy, I'm glad you found a solution. This is good, so far. She can't tip it over like she did the plastic one. She is my first lab that eats like this. With the new bowl, I actually heard her chew tonight.

I have been feeding Bean almost always now with his big Kong Wobbler. My son stopped over, and I gave the dog his Kong. Son was horrified when he saw all the food shooting out on the floor. Since he's got a fussy doxiepoo, he was thinking that the kibble wouldn't get eaten. HaHaHa.

I'm lucky that Sammi has never been an inhaler but I will pass this on to DS as Murphy Granddoggie #2 and part lab is one and then he wants Howies food. They keep him away but it would be great if they could slow him down.

LOL! That's so funny! I dread the day Diesel figures out my trick!! The bowl looks awesome, totally worth every penny if she actually chews her food!! I got really scared when I read about bloat & wanted D to slow down to properly eat & digest his grub.

Georgie what did you do before getting this bowl. Looks great.

Tessa inhales food. Kassa did too. I have been using a big serving tray. It slows her down, but anay old day she will inhale the bowl as well.I have heard to put rocks around the dish, but think she might break her teeth.

Erns chews every mouthful. Great when eating but pain when I want to give him a sneaky treat. lol

I use that Brakefast bowl for My also. I don't really think she even needs it anymore. Now that there are no other dogs around her when eating, she does not inhale it at all.
