I guess Captain Defiance doesn't LIKE being physically made to do as he is told.
Tonight, one normal-voiced, "Lay down... all the way down" met with total compliance.
"Oh gawwwddd... don't do that leg slidey thing on me mom... PLEASE don't do the leg slidey thing again!"
He downed and stayed. And stayed. And stayed...
(For those who are not aware, Flynn is not a puppy. He is 9 boisterous years old.)
Seamus and Flynn
Well, lesson learned (for the moment at least). Bravo!
Sharon, Blaise and Diesel.
See, it is never too late to teach a dog new tricks
Good boy Flynnie!
(leg slidey thing did make me LOL!)
Good fella, Flynnie, good fella. Now, keep remembering that!
It always amazes me how they can totally tune you out and ignore a command, but pick up a treat and repeat the same command in a whisper and it's immediate compliance!
Jackie, Champ, and Buddy
Wesley would do that too, the totally begrudging compliance. "Well, OhKAY then. Here I am. On the friggin floor! I hope you're happy."
He'd bundle all that dialog into what I called the Almighty Sigh.
I think he had a trademark on the Almighty Sigh.

"A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?"- John Grogan
