Mom calls it K9 Nosework. But, it's an awful lot like our hide-n-seek/find it games. There's a whole bunchof boxes on the floor and the instructor puts some treats in one. All I have to do is find the box with the treats. I get to sniff all I want and there's food. I like the number one rule, too- NO OBEDIENCE!!! No, "Caleb, heel", "Leave it", nuffin. All Mom can say is "Find it!"- once. What else can I want- all the sniffing I want to do, treats, and I'm in charge of where we go! How much fun is that?
It sure is wonderful isn't it?! Abbey (9 months) went through beginner's class and is now in intro to odor. We have started with birch and she is amazing. Absolutely loves it. She is all business when she sees those boxes and it so wonderful watching their body language when they catch the scent.
We love nose work! Not many classes around me or enough time to take them but so fun!
Jen and the crew!
I've never heard of this, but it sounds awesome! I used to play a similar game with Corby when he was a pup - I'd put him in a sit/stay, then hide a treat in another room. He always found it very fast.
