SmileStories about your Labs and cats

Today I had the idea to show a card with a picture of a cat on it to Dixie. She playfully barked at it, and put her paws and head down and tail in the air. What do your labs do when they see cats?

Both full body alert. If they imagine they can get it no matter how high it is or far away or by crossing a busy road they will take off.The word cat is the signal to be on alert.
A few days ago they were too sleepy to bother waking up.. Yesterday that same cat came onto the deck and that poor thing. Both dogs knocked each other out of the way to get it. Tessa going smack into the fence when she couldn't stop.

We have 2 cats, both rescues that are indoors only. Maxx still plays with them, Emma mostly ignores them but beware the outside kitty we come across on a walk, Emma will whine herself silly to get to it. Not sure what she would do if she could go see them.

My guys think cats are bunnies with long tails....they eat bunnies. my cue to get them running crazily around looking for something is "GET THE KITTY!!!"

My dog hates cats! When i take him for a walk and he sees a cat he trys to run after it! He growls and barks and his fur stands up and he wants to kill it!

Thats why we don't own a cat.

Kassabellla - Poor cat! It probably thought "They didn't care last time, I can just take my time," then, whoooosh!
tammyhuffman - I've had Dixie whine at cats too. I have three cats, and when they see Dixie come out of the door, they scatter like roaches
Belles Mom - My cats are as fast as bunnies to get away from Dixie. I'm sure cats do the same thing when they see Belle running after them.
morla - OMG! Dixie loves cats, she is just so big that I think that she may accidentally kill them. But she has never growled or tried to kill them.

Bella seems to act like any cat she sees outside is prey, especially if it's moving.
Interestingly, the woman with whom we board Bella has a cat, and Bella basically ignores it. So the context is obviously key to her reaction.

We have 2 cats - inside/outside cats. Funny thing - Baxter picks on them awfully inside, but not outside. Emilu basically ignores them both, although they used to sleep with her, but Baxter starts out "being nice and then gets rougher and rougher until we have to call it quits, or hes' dragging them around by the hair.
