    DefaultSpay Incontinence

Moka is showing the signs/symptoms of spay incontinence.
She has a vet appointment for tomorrow.

Which med is preferred and why?
    Proin or DES?

Harleigh has a very mild case of incontinence and used to get UTI's all the time, I am able to control it with 2-4 Cranberry capsules every day.

Moka takes 1 cran cap in the morning...maybe I should try increasing it?

I'm not sure - it might help. Since Harleigh's is such a mild case, that may be why I'm able to control it with just the cranberry.

Earlier this year, Kendall was showing all the signs of spay incontinence. When I took her to the vet, the vet confirmed my suspicions. She put her on Proin, 2 tabs/day and said that after a few weeks I could work on cutting back if I felt that Kendall was doing better. I did my homework, read about all of the side effects. I decided to just try one pill/day to see if that worked. It did, and after a few weeks I slowly started eliminating pills until this summer she was down to 2x/week. I haven't given her any of the pills for the past 2 weeks or so and she has been fine. One of the symptoms is restlessness and she was definitely more restless when taking the meds. She is kind of an easily aggitated dog anyway, and I think the Proin made it worse. If she starts displaying symptoms again, I will likely start the Proin again but also will talk with my vet about alternate options. Good luck!
