    DefaultPregnant Black Lab?

Our dog Sadie is most likely pregnant. She was in a kennel with an intact white lab august 10-14. She is noticeably bigger (especially her nipples), extra whiny and hungrier. Sadie's mom was a purebread black lab, her dad a purebread chocolate lab. Does anyone know what color the pups might be? Is it the same with people and hair color, with dark dominant hair color genes? Also, any information on nutrition for pregnant dogs, whelping box, or anything else pregnancy related would be great! Thanks!

Making a vet appointment tomorrow to confirm pregnancy.

Here's an excellent site on color genetics.
    Coat Color Inheritance
Sadie is black carrying chocolate, but do you know if she also carries yellow?
You would also need to know if the yellow male sire carries chocolate.
Without knowing all of this, you can still make some guesses using the appropriate combinations on the left of page.

Good luck. Sorry that Sadie is having an oops pregnancy.
(You'll probably get a lot of grief on this site because people are very passionate about only breeding to better the breed, but please stick around because you will learn a ton of valuable information.)

I don't get it, how was she in contact with him? Very irresponsible of the kennel, I would NOT go back there again.

    Good luck.

I'm guessing they were purposely put in the kennel together. I doubt it was a boarding kennel, probably a backyard kennel . . .

I smell fish. Odd it wasn't an intact purebread boxer in the next kennel.

LOL! I can't believe I missed that. What kind of bread wouldn't be pure? Maybe cinnamon-raisin bread . . . Banana-nut bread perhaps?

Phew!! I was beginning to wonder if I logged onto the wrong forum!

However, I give props to the OP for "chocolate" instead of "brown", and "whelping box" instead of "litter box"

Oh I didn't even think of a "regular" outdoor kennel. Lovely.
