We want FEATHERS!
And I've promised it to them for too long already. It was 62 degrees with a nice 10 mph SE breeze blowing when I took Rusty and Remi to our "wetlands" five miles from here for live bird training this morning.
The areas that show in the pics where the dawgs are retrieving is normally under 12"-18" of water at this time of year. The Drought is very likely going to eliminate our November duck season if we don't get a LOT of rain by then.
Rusty has turned into a semi-amazing retriever already, well beyond anything we could have ever envisioned or hoped for. He lacks Remi's nose and tracking skills (which we were working on this morning) but that will come with more time and experience. Good Lord this Rusty Doodle dawg LOVES to hunt and please his Daddy!
Rusty turned out to be pretty amazing, didn't he? In no small part to YOU! And he sure is a handsome fellow!!
I wouldn't hold out much hope for November... I don't think this region is going to see much, if any, of the badly needed rain.
Seamus and Flynn
I agree. It's time for the live stuff already!!
Great pictures as always Jim. So glad you can get out for some serious practice. I hope you all do get some rain soon. I thought Texas was going to burn up completely over the summer - very bad fire year.
Love JL. Justlabradors.com!!!
Great pics! My youngster, Diesel, is the same way. Gave him a good workout with the HyperDog tonight. We'll be going goose and dove hunting again this weekend. Gotta love a good huntin' dawg!
Glad you can keep them interested Jim (nice pics)
NIce job! Great pics!
Jen and the crew!
