    DefaultCappy's vet visit?

Jim, how was Cappy's check up yesterday? I was thinking about him. Hope it went well.

Thanks for asking. About what we expected. Cappy has advancing osteo arthritis and it's especially affecting the spine at the lower back and hips. It's causing degradation of the nerves that pass through that area which explains why the "Proins" he has been taking is no longer effective for urine leakage. That med helps the sphincter muscle at the bladder outlet stay closed. But, unfortunately, it's the nerves that prevent him from keeping it closed. All of the lumps and bumps that were aspirated yesterday (at least 6-7) were deemed oil from fatty lipomas. The vet has given us 100 MG Rimadyl for Cappy to use if he's in obvious discomfort. I don't want to start that until absolutely needed.

Cappy will continue his downward slide until he tells me "it's time". In the meantime we're all willing to put up with the panting and wet spots wherever he lays down ... in 12-3/4 years with us he's more than deserved to stay as long as there's still quality to his life. He just finished lunch, eagerly ate it, had a wagging tale the whole time and then took his turn in line getting the customary after-meal treats with the other two.

BTW ... I dropped Carol and Gramy off at Walmart in Sherman TX, early yesterday and then went on to the vet's office without them. Neither wanted to be there with me ... fearing the worst. They both cried tears when I left ... and even more (but happier) tears when I came back to get them 45 minutes later with Cappy riding up next to me in the front seat.

Thanks again for the concern you and others who posted yesterday.

    Jim

I'm glad ole Cappy has such loving parents, willing to live with the leakage. My TFT was incontinent the last 2 years of her life, but we lived with it because we loved her. Prayers continue for both you and Cappy.
