DefaultOff to the e-vet with Java

I got home from work yesterday and took the girls for a nice, long walk.
Came home, fed them and did a few things around the house.
Java went out on the porch to hang out, Moka stayed inside with me.
Java came to the door, wanting to come in so I went to let her in...and she looked like the Elephant Man!!
Her right eye was all swollen, lumps and bumps all over her head. Rash spreading all over her belly, even her hoopdee was swollen!
I assumed she got bit by a big or a spider.
Called the vets...closed. Off to the e-vet.
By the time she got there her ears were swollen, her snout/nose was swollen, her whole head was swollen.
A Benedryl shot and a steriod shot....1/2 hour later she looked like herself again.
This had never happened to either of my girls before...I was shocked at how quickly she swelled up and how bad she looked.
    Poor Java.

Poor thing! Did the vet have an idea about what happened? It is a little scary that one bug/spider bite would do all of that! I'm glad she is feeling better.

The vet guessed a bug or spider bite also because of the acute reaction.

That happened to my Frehley last year. She didn't even look like a dog. It took two weeks for all the sores, bumps, and swelling to go away. The initial shots helped right away, but within two days she started swelling back up again. I had to keep her on the benadryl and antibiotics for a couple weeks. She still has a trace of scars on her nose from the sores. They were bleeding everywhere. My vet also narrowed it down to a spider/insect bite. Scary stuff.
