Well folks we went for our second class tonight and Parker did GREAT. He did not get aggressive with any of the other dogs. He sat, stayed, and heeled great. However, the walking. OMG the walking. He did not do it right for me so the instructor decided to help. He took my leash and had Parker go up and down the mat, Parker was NOT cooperative AND THEN he slipped right out of his collar and was standing there in the ring free. I held my breath as did everyone else. However, my boy did not head for the hills (there was a wide open garage door there), nor did he attack anyone. He just stood there analyzing the situation. The instructor and I tried to get him but he kept tap dancing away. Finally I was able to grab him and get the collar back on.
All in all it was a good night for him. I was so happy he did not go after any of the other dogs. Next week it's breaking bad habits like jumping...and nipping people.
So glad he's been a good boy! I hope you can continue improving him on leash when you are walking - it's so hard sometimes.
You are doing a good job with him. I would think that just the fact that he was free and didn't go after anyone was a real statement to the work you are doing with him.
Hershey Kisses, In charge of getting Ed out to the dog park so that he gets some exercise.
Glad you had a good night with him. Keep up the good work.
Good job Parker!! He is going to do fine; just keep working with him and giving him lots of positive reinforcement. Walking is hard - there is so much else to look at and check out. No time for paying attention to Mom or Dad. That was one of our challenges too - it does get better with practice and time. Keep up the good work!!
Love JL. Justlabradors.com!!!
Good boy Parker! Keep working with him, it will come! You are already seeing progress.
Way to make your lessons stick, Parker! Good boy! GOOD boy!
