Well, Chester has had a real problem with them, poor guy. I really don't know what else to try.
To date, we have given him Frontline Plus 3 times since we got him, and when that did not work we tried Capstar. The application of the Frontline Plus is so tough because his coat is very, very thick, and you can barely see his skin through it. I will ask the vet, but was wondering if any one has any suggestions. I hate to see him so itchy!
Oh, and a photo of Chester this morning...
Chester & his mom (Noah and Marmie, forever in my heart)
Whenw e got Bentley he was covered in fleas and the vet gave him some kind of shot for fleas.

Last year Frontline wasn't working for my brother's dog, and they tried Comfortis (a pill from the vet) which worked well. I haven't tried it on my dogs because I didn't need it. I use a flea comb and don't give them anything unless I see signs of fleas.
Try the drontal or avantage neck droplets - less traumatic than frontline as all you need is the back of the neck application.
According to all reports, Oregon is having one of the worst flea seasons in years! We used Frontline Plus on Sophie twice already. The fleas are still there! Poor Sophie is miserable. I just bought 2 cans of Raid for fleas and I am going to spray the house and back porch. The vet said I could put Frontline on again after 21 days. Can't use Advantix k-9 because we have cats. I plan to spray on Monday and put the flea stuff on her the same day. We got desperate and bathed her in flea shampoo a week ago. It worked for only a few hours. Let us know if you have any luck getting rid of these pests!
I have Kimber on comfortis also and it works great.
do you see the fleas on him or is he just very itchy? Libby has been very itchy too and I was thinking fleas but we didnt see any. Vet said our area has been really bad for seasonal allergies in dogs this year

@Sophiesmama- Many years ago, we moved into an apartment that exploded with fleas a week or two later. We had no pets, but my son was a crawling infant and I was freaking out about the fleas as well as the insecticides needed to kill them. My mom had a can of this Stanley Home Products | Enda-Bug® Insecticide IV, and I sprayed the perimeter of the carpeted living room in an attempt to avoid "bombing" the place. We never saw another flea! I don't know if the formula has changed since that time, but I still remember how effective it was.

@Garth: Do you use Advantage or Advantix k-9? I was told I couldn't use Advantix because I have cats. @Sharon...I am about ready to try anything! I have been hearing from friends and family here in Oregon that they are having the same problem this year. I am going to look up the Stanley stuff online. Thanks, Pam
