Yeah, I know...catchy title. My cousin says that when Deacon dumps his all in one spot, that's an anti-tank mine. Diesel, on the other hand....well, he does what I call creeping craps. Y'know, where he creeps along dropping them in a line. Those are anti-personnel mines, says the cuz. Which leads into this story...
Last Sat. I went over to his place and brought Diesel along. Our plans were to grill chops and watch pre-season football that evening. First thing we did was drive out in the country to do some scouting for dove season, and work Diesel. We went to one of the spots where we hunt pheasant. I had the dog out working the grass in front of us, and every now and then I would pull out the freshly scented training dummy, yell "Rooster!", and give it a throw while my cousin let off a round from my over/under shotgun. We worked our way down the waterway and through a big grassy area over to the lake. Diesel took a dip to cool off, and we stood around letting the little hard charger rest and catch his breath a bit. While we're doing this, my cousin pulls out his Ruger Blackhawk to shoot a few rounds and fine tune the sights. While he's reloading, Diesel stood behind him and off to the right, and proceeded to start laying mines....in a pattern that went up in front of the guy, across in front, back down the left side, and across the back...boxing him in. I just about busted a gut laughing!

Nah, he didn't step in any. He's learned to watch his feet when the boys are around or when he's in my yard.

Now that I think about it, he does the same thing when we're training. He'll drop the dummy, cop a squat, and poop in a circle around it, before grabbing it and bringing it to me. With a look on his face like "Sorry, Dad...had to go!" What a meathead!
