DefaultHow greedy/clever/resourcefull is your Labrador ?

In the evenings, I sometimes walk the dogs in the Loose Valley ( Nature Preserve Bob BTW ) and being a valley it has a stream which Dylan likes to dip in from time to time although there is only one location where he is allowed to completely immerse his body.

The valley is split by a couple of roads and a bridge and on the second stretch there is a fish pond which Dylan is NOT allowed in !

Yesterday, we passed a couple of people fishing in this pond and they were using bread for bait. Dylan was only a few paces ahead of me which is normal on our walks as he likes to keep close. He lunged for some of the bread and managed to get a couple of slices so I apologised to the fishing peeps, prevented Dylan from eating the whole loaf and continued on my way.

Tonight, the walk went much as on the previous day except that when we were within 100 yards of the fishing area, Dylan disappeared out of site at a rate of knots - very out of character. It suddenly dawned on me ....yes I'm slower than my Labrador brain wise ....that he was after more bread and didn't want me to stop him from eating it today.

Sadly, his food supply had dried up and nobody was fishing - with or without bread and as soon as I reached him he continued at his usual slow pace - dre I say a little bit disappointed - greedy little tow rag !

Oh too funny!!! I think Rush would react much the same way, but Boo wouldn't. She'd probably be scared of the fishing poles, or the bread sack, or who knows what.lol

Oh my, Lexi would be all about bread! I often refer to her as my "chocolate carb lover".

Oh yeah, if there was a spot where they had found food once before, they would most certainly go back to it again, and again, and again ...

I think the majority of our Labs are like that. When HK and I go out front, she always strolls and turns to the right and proceeds ot find a proper place to relieve her self. Then comes apples season. We have two trees to the left. Once she finds the first dropped apple in the fall, going out is more like a race to the left. Everyday until she finds no more apples. Then it is back to a stroll to the right.

lol, tank would be growling and run away like a chicken of there were men using the bread but if no men were by it he would gobble it all up. Bentley is not the typicall lab food wise, lol. he would sniff it then keep on walking. he only likes chicken, steak or as I food out yesterday liver"yuck".
