Nellie had mucosy runs this morning at 6 a.m. Gave her immodium. About mid day she had a better poop but I gave her another immodium to make sure. I feed both dogs at 2:30. At 6 p.m. Nellie threw up her entire meal. I am far from home and the local vet is closed. The emergency vet is at least 1/2 an hour away and I don't know where. Is there something I can give her to settle her stomach. She is licking her lips so I know she is having problems.

Do you have any Pepto?

Danie- at this point don't do any more feeding of anything.
Let that stomach settle from whatever it is that upset it.
Meg (beagle) goes through this a lot... I just wait it out and let her do likewise.

I hold food for 12 hours, then feed boiled chicken & rice. Hope she feels better soon. My friend uses Pepto.
If her poop turns bloody than you need to get her to the doggy ER right away!! I am concerned about her dehydrating so tried to get her to drink as much as she can, but lay off the food for now. Hope this advice helps.
How is Nellie this morning?? I hope she is better.

See if you can find a Tractor Supply or similar "Farm" type store and get some Tylan powder. It's an antibiotic and I never travel without it. It will settle down the digestive tract pretty quickly. It's horribly bitter and you only need maybe a 1/4 tsp for an adult dog. Usually I sprinkle a pinch on the food once a day, if needed, and wet it down really good. Wash your hands really good, as I've said it's very very bitter.
