    DefaultGently, gently, gently...

I wonder if your Labs do this. Both of mine do.

When we tuck in bed for the night, it's Flynn right next to me and Seamus right next to Flynn. If Flynn decides he wants to plant his head anywhere (and I mean anywhere) upon my body he gently, gently, gently lowers it to the desired spot. As if he thinks "my head's pretty blocky and heavy... I don't want to hurt mom". I really don't think he lets the entire weight of his head rest on me until he's sure I'm going to be okay with it. Seamus also does the "testing the weight of the head" thing but he doesn't ordinarily get the prime position next to mom.

    It's just very, very sweet.

Ah, no...there is nothing gentle about either Java or Moka.
I have the bruises right now to prove it!!
They think I am their personal bean bag.

Mine totally do this too! I've got Ginny this week and she does NOT do this. Her head goes exactly where she wants with all of its weight all at once! OUCH!

Don't you remember the map of where everyone sleeps?

My boys are gentlemen. They hardly ever disturb my sleep.Jasper on the floor 95 % of the time ( He keeps my place warm when I need to pay a visit ! So sweet ) and Dylan now sleeps on his own bed ( that I originally bought for Jasper ) most of the time although when he does get on the bed he loves to keep his HOT body too close and I have to push him away.

Maybe they think you're asleep and don't want to wake you.
Mine don't do that, but Bruno and Judy will wait until they think I'm sleeping, then cuddle up to me.

Sadly Clancey can't make it on to the bed anymore *sniff* but at 14 that's ok.

He used to just curl up between our legs and lower his head. Very gentle
