DefaultI am convinced that Duke thinks the deer are cows, Another country tale.

Ever since Duke was a pup he has had this thing about cows. Every time we are in the car and pass a field with cows he launches into a barking fit, not a pleasant thing when in a car. Last fall I took him to a DockDog event at the Louisiana State Fair. The DockDog tank was set up right nest to the entrance to the cattle judging barn and out front was a large fiberglass cow. Every time we got in line for a jump Duke would start frantically barking at the "cow" to ever ones amusement.
Now back to today. This morning Duke saw a deer while he was in the fenced yard and of course he went crazy. The deer couldn't have cared less and just stood in the woods looking at him. I finally got him back inside so the deer could head on its way.
Just a bit ago I had both boys out back. As I sat on the deck Duke patrolled the yard and seeing no deer he came back up on the deck and sat beside me for an ear scritch. Then I softly said one single word...cows. He immediately started growling and ran to the railing with every hair on his back standing on end. Now I know, to Duke, those deer must be cows.

Cows can be viscious and dangerous - everyone knows that! Good boy Duke!

Especially those large fiberglass ones...haven't you seen the Chick-fil-a cows at work along the interstate?

LOL! isn't it funny, the things they decide to bark at? For Bauer it's people on motorcycles.

Our dogs are all so unique. HK's reaction to a deer is, ' Wow! I am going to chase that thing. See you all later.'

But the few times she has seen a cow, no way. I believe she is seriously afraid of the bovines. She has never shown any sign of an attempt to chase, and tends to stay really close to me, looking back at them constantly. Ears back.
