    DefaultA "leave-it" success story

I was making breakfast this morning and a slice of bacon, fresh from the oven, dropped on the floor inches from Blaise's nose. No effort at all needed to scoop that delicacy up before I could begin to reach it.

I immediately told him (and the other lurker) to "leave it"! And HE DID!

Reward issued at the end of breakfast - half a slice for each dog.

    Good boy Blaise!

Good boy, Blaise. I think that is one of the best commands they can learn, next to "come in." Glad they got a reward for good behavior.

    That is awesome!!!

At a recent show, I was walking Hoss through some pine trees...a small fledgling some-thing-or-other bird dropped withing inches of Hoss' face. I did not have the same control over him!! Crunch, crunch and a nice small RAW treat was consumed!!

I imagine that if the bacon was chirping and moving I'd have been less successful in getting it left alone! My Lucy liked baby bird appetizers too. ew.

Oh boy, if that happened that close to either of my guys, the bacon would have been gone before I could say "Leave it!"
