This afternoon it's 101 degrees yet every time I let them out back Duke heads for a sunny spot to bask. He does this year round but in 101 degrees? Perhaps it feels good on his aging bones. It gives a new meaning to hot dog.
Duke and Freckles at their country home
Now I am going to have to take a pic.
Hershey Kisses does that on almost any nice day. But when it is unbearable hot, humid, and sunny, she lays down in the middle of the asphalt driveway in the full sun. I do not understand it. The only thing I ever came up with is that the driveway is too hot for her paws, so she lays down. naw! She not that dumb.

My guys sunbathe daily too, then they cool off in the pool and go back to sunbathing. It's their typical routine on my days off.

The grass looks crispy
Judy has always done that, even when she was younger. I always tell her she's working on her tan.
Bauer does it too, and normally lays in about the same position Duke is in. One day last week he went out and was rolling around in the crispy grass, then settled on his back (laying out there . . . wheels up . . . he looked dead). I was afraid he would get sunburned on his belly so I made him come in .

Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for much, but bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.
