I hope it is good news! The longer it takes the more nervous I am getting and i should not be the nervous one.

Im sorry it has taken me so long to reply back. Spent an hour and a half at the vets. Titus has giardia. They did a regular stool sample then a giardia smear. His temp was normal. They gave him some meds for his vomiting and diarhea and sent him home on 250 mg of amoxicillian 2x daily and250 mg metronidazole 1x daily for 5 days. He is on a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice for 3 days. He must have gotten it from the water where we went swimming on Sunday. We will not be swimming there again!!! He's feeling a bit better now, at ate a little bit of him chicken and rice, and drank about a 1/4 cup of water. At least he is keeping his food down now. (fingers crossed). I feel so bad for the little guy.....

I am so thankful it is something that can be treated successfully!! Giardia can also be in humans, so if you start to feel bad you better jump on it quickly! It makes me a little nervous about taking Sophie to swim in the river or lakes around here...were you at a river? Lake? Was the water smelly or anything?

I asked the same thing then i started reaserching. You can actualy get a vaccine for it now. It also said somethign about not letting your dog swim were a lot of animal feces is. That is a problem since the pond we got to is in the middle of the woods!! I thank it may be time for another vet trip for me and the dogs.

Around here we only have rivers and lakes, for human use so I'm guessing that it will be safe for Roxy. We do have some ponds and creeks were lots of ducks swim but the water is dark and I won't let Roxy get near close. She had completed all her shoots, is there a special shoot for preventing those type of illnesses like the Giardia? (which I don't have any idea what is it, will have to google) Should I call vet and ask?

Giardia is everywhere so don't rule out swimming there again. He could eat grass and pick up giardia. He will eventually build up an immunity and won't show symptoms anymore or rarely. Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly after touching Titus. You could end up with it too and it's not fun. Trust me.
