DefaultHow is your dog in the heat?

Right now, my A/C is set at 68 (if we lose power, I want my house to be cool)...Tucker has been sleeping on the cold tile floor all day and is hot to trot to go outside...he has NO idea what is waiting for him on the other side of the door!

How have your dogs been in the heat? I assume nobody is walking far?

Potty breaks only here. They ran around a little bit outside today but came to their senses quickly and wanted back in.

We stay in the basement most of the day It is cooler down there but there are lots of spiders and uuggg.... Tank doesn;t do good in any kind of weatther. It is to hot or to cold. Bentley could care less. i had to drag Tank out to go potty while Bentley prances outside with his tennis ball in his mouth. I just put on my shorts a t-shirt and go outside for a couple minutes then straight back down to the basement to be lonely.

The girls played fetch today but it was a very, very short game. Boo would play until she drops in normal weather, today she wanted to keep going but Rush called the game after about 10 fetches. Fine with me! Both then came in and laid in front of the fan that I turn on just for them. We are air conditioned but the extra air from the fan really helps them cool off. Boo will lay in front of it waiting for me to turn it on. lol
I watch them very closely in this heat. Both are satisfied with about 5 fetches each.

The boys do not like to do anything but sunbathe in the heat. Both of the goobers like to lay on the hot sidewalk at the bottom of the front steps, in the full sun. Buddy's coat will get so hot it hurts to touch him! But move around? Oh, hell no! These boys love the cold. They go absolutely bonkers in the first measurable snowfall!

Jack and Buddy go out in the morning. When they indicate they want outdoors, they either go out on the deck and come right back in or they stick their noses out past the door jamb and go back and lay down. In the evening they think they want to go swimming. Buddy has gone in once, Jack goes in once or twice but then goes stand by the house door. Tonight the pool water was 90 degrees. Luckily the air conditioner in the house works.

We took the girls to some wetlands property the state has very early in the morning. They did a couple retrieves & two blinds in the water & then we headed home. It is way too hot. We were back home by 9. They spend most of the day in the A/C.

I ended up installing the window AC when the heat wave started. I was going to try to get away without doing it since we are moving in about a week & the super charges $50/mth just for the AC. But Diesel was getting short of breath & you could cut the air with a knife in the apartment.

We do potty breaks only. He hates the heat outside but hasn't made the connection that's why he's only getting potty breaks & has had major puppy bursts in the apartment almost daily. It's wonderful when he nearly takes out my laptop table from a spin out on the hardwood!!
