my puppy jayson was just weighed at the vet and i think he is to heavy for his age the vet said not to worry bout that but i think 76.7 pounds is alot. should i put him on a diet or continue feeding him the same amount of food?
this is a recent pic of him. he doesnt look "fat" but it just seems really heavy for his age. i googled how much labs should weigh and it says full grown should be like 85-86 pounds and hes 7months old and like 10 pounds away from what it says he should be at
ya he does have alot of muscle i guess when that number came up it took me by suprise and kinda worried me
ok thats good that hes fine cause the last thing i want is my baby to be sick... by the way your roxy is adorable
My Bentley is around that weightand is a year old and my Tank is 80 some pounds but your boy looks healthy He must have good muscle tone. If the vet wasn't worried I wouldn't be either.
~It doesn't matter how smart the dog is,it matters how smart the owner is.
Like people, Labradors come in all sizes. Hard to say what weight your lab should be. The weight guidelines you saw are just an estimate to give you a guideline to follow. Some Labs will be below that, some above it, some right on. If your vet isn't concerned then I wouldn't worry. My one lab when he goes to the vets, they are very surprised when they weigh him. He doesn't look Heavy, and he weighs 108lbs. (Vet would like to see him 10 lbs lighter).
They don't actually keep growing at the rate they have been as puppies. At 7 months, they are just about done. I would expect that the dog might end up around 80-90# depending on muscle tone etc.
