We started our next session of obedience classes today, we're taking Attention 2!Ten steps into our training hall today, Ollie was lunged at by a parti-coloured poodle, who hit the end of his leash, barking and snarling. Now I know Ollie didn't piss him off because I made him heel in, paying attention to me. He was looking right at me the whole time and his whole body posture was relaxed.Attention Level 2
Available upon completion of Attention Level 1
Continuing work on attention and heeling skills, stand for exam, handling skills, fronts, finishes and stays. Concentrating on more proofing and distraction drills. Teach your dog how to execute right, left and about turns and changes of pace effectively. Begin to teach off lead heeling.
Our obedience instructor immediately corrected the poodle, who did nothing all class but lunge and snarl at my Ollie!! His owner's excuse? It was because Ollie was intact and that's why his dog was like that. Excuse me? Ollie is intact too and he has NEVER snarled at another intact dog.
Anyway, Ollie, at 14 months, is also the youngest dog in class again this time! He is *such* a goob and has learned his older brudder's style of coming into front... they both come at me full speed, poke me in the belly and then sit smartly in front. I wonder if the belly poke will be a deduction?? lol.
Anyway, it was GREAT distraction training for us and I'm happy to report that Ollie did awesome and paid amazing attention despite the snarling going on.
He is such a goofy *boy*, but wow, when it's time to work, he gets right down to biznass. lol.
OLLIE: I did good, huh, Momma? Time to break out the cheese-strings!
WTG Ollie!!! Such a good boy you are. Just show that poodle how to behave in class .
