Had to get Ambers Rabies shot yesterday and she had a reaction to it. She had the shot at 11:00am and the pics were taken at 6:30pm. She first started showing signs of her reaction at about 5:30pm. Amber has a pretty thin and smooth coat and I noticed that she had a few spots where the coat wasn't laying quite flat. I thought it might be Hives from her reaction to the shot but I couldn't feel anything. By about 6:15 I could definately feel the bumps/hives on her skin (she had about 100) and her face was swelling. I gave her 2 benedryls (Antihistamines)at 6:15 and took the pics at about 6:30pm. By 10:00pm she only had a few hives left and her face was mostly back to normal I gave her 1 more Benedryl and by morning she was back to normal.

Light, "weedy" individuals are definitely incorrect; equally objectionable are cloddy lumbering specimens. Labrador Retrievers shall be shown in working condition well-muscled and without excess fat. Females should weigh between 55 and 70lbs and Males between 65 and 80lbs. Height females 21.5 to 23.5 inches males 22.5 to 24.5 inches at the withers.

Glad to hear Amber is back to normal today. That would've freaked me out!
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am

scarey, glad she is back to normal!
I'm glad she is okay, Kelly.
Hey, it's been a while since I've seen you post, where have you been? I think we all miss Amber!

Glad she's okay. I never knew they could have a reaction to the shots. I'm glad to know that now.
I don't see any pics, but I know how scary that can be! My kitty had a horrible reaction to his distemper vaccines and his face blew up. Benadryl worked wonders, but it's still scary!
I'm glad she's better!
happy to here she is fine
I couldn't see the picture but I am glad she is doing better.
Do you have a copy of the certificate? I'd make a note on the manufacturer/lot, and definitely call your vet to tell them to report it to the vaccine company.
Also--- Was anything else given at the same time? I had a pup react a few years ago (not owned by me). Ends up the vet had given a gob of combos (7 way) plus injectable bordetella, plus dewormer that day. I was SO mad because the vaccine company's response was "oh, this dog should never be vaccinated again". Grrrrrrr. I told my owners that'd be the last time I'd use that vet also. There is no excuse to hammer that many vaccines into a dog at once. Anne
